Can my water get cut off?

Following the Water Industry Act 1999, water disconnections have been banned and are therefore illegal.

If you encounter difficulties paying your water bills you should contact your water supplier and ask them about 'special assistance' under the "Vulnerable Groups" Regulations.

What other rights do I have:

you are entitled to compensation every time there is an unplanned interruption to water supply lasting longer than 12 hours
and you are entitled to claim a refund of your sewage bill each time your property suffers severe flooding.

REMEMBER: YOUR WATER SUPPLY CANNOT BE CUT OFF UNLESS THERE IS A COURT ORDER
