Every time I go on holiday I have to buy a new case. Even with a guarantee it is no use as the retailer insists it is airline damage for which the luggage is not covered by the guarantee. Even one that was replaced by an airline came apart on the first use and they would not replace. My current problem is after one use - not on an airline - I returned the item to the retailer because the trim was coming unstitched. They wanted to send it to head office for comments, but because I needed a bag for a forthcoming holiday they said bring it back afterwards.

This I did and further noticed that the fabric was coming unstitched on the end of the bag- very tiny seam which did not hold the stitching. They returned it to H.O. and they said it was an airline problem and would not replace or refund.I could however have another bag at half price. Why would I buy another to fall apart? I contacted Trading Standards and their only advice was to sue them. Totally useless organisation. Something must be done - I hear many people with the same problem where luggage is not fit for purpose and there is no comeback and guarantees are not worth the paper they are written on.

I loaned my daughter £6000 to put down a deposit on a house with her husband. We agreed that they would give it back when they have saved some money. In October 2010 they broke up and decided to get divorced. They are trying to sell the house but there is a problem as my daughter ex-husband is claiming that i gave them the £6000 as a gift rather than a loan and therefore claims that it does not need to be paid back. i am saying that it was a loan and does need to be paid back when the house is sold.

Why do I still need to pay CSA when my ex wife is on a higher wage than me and i see the kids half the time? I actually get financially penalised for seeing the kids half the time - how wrong is that- because the sytem doesnt take it into account. The courts and the CSA all agree its illogical and UNFAIR and have apologised repeatedly but there is nothing anybody can do about it. The CSA have actually told me not to see my kids as much and stop buying them clothes ect and instructed me to inform the courts of this. They are meant to be the child SUPPORT agency. They are not supporting the children just the mother in this instance. The system is fundamentally flawed. They have even told me to see my MP - even they want it changed to be fair.

I have a shared driveway with my neighbours. I have lived in the house for 18 years but my neighbours only moved in 4 months ago. I am a builder by trade and drive a transit van which i park on my driveway and always have done. My neighbours kept on complaining about this saying that my van was damaging the driveway. They have now got what they call an ex-parte injunction from the court stopping me from parking my van and have told me that it will be a criminal offence if I breach this.

My local bank manager told me about a great investment opportunity that I should get involved in. Coming from a bank official I took great notice of this and believed that it must genuinely be a good opportunity. All i had to do was invest £50,000 into an investment club being operated by 2 experienced investment experts. In return I was promised at least a 40% return on investment within 12 months. The problem that i had was that i only had £25,000, however my bank manager said that the bank are so confident in the scheme that they would lend me the other £25,000. I immediatly took him up on the offer, took out the £25,000 loan and made the investment. 3 months later when i telephoned to enquire how my investment was coming along i learned the shocking news that the investment company had closed down!!!!!!! I immediatly telephoned my bank manager to ask what he knew but he said that he could not provide any additional information. I then discovered that one of the 2 individuals that ran the investment company was the brother in law of my bank manager!!!! As soon as i found out i contacted the bank and informed them of the situation and asked what they are going to do about this. They have told me that there is nothing that they can do and that they are not responsible. Is this right, surely they are as there own employee (my bank manager) advised me to get into this scam investment). what do i do????

I’m getting in touch with you further to the post on your website that offers advice re. neighbours from hell. I’m hoping that you might be able to advise re. what this family’s next steps might be. And / or help us to raise awareness of this issue to put pressure on the relevant authorities / ombudsman to review this family’s situation. I’d like to draw your attention to a story that appeared on the front page of the Southern Daily Echo, today - about a family (relations of mine, hence the email) who have lost the home that they owned because of anti social council tenant neighbours. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9525301.Neighbours_forced_family_out_of_home/ <http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9525301.Neighbours_forced_family_out_of_home/>

Sandra and her family were forced to leave the home that they owned after constant violent threats from their neighbours, which left them in doubt of their safety and that of their young son. The threats began after Sandra complained about the anti-social levels of noise and a noise abatement notice was served. Due to the neighbours, the family were unable to sell or rent their home and so had to hand the house back to their mortgage provider, leaving them £51,000 in negative equity, which they will now have to pay off. Sandra and her partner both work full time but it will take them over nine years to pay off this debt.

The family were advised that as the neighbours were council tenants, and as the problems had been reported repeatedly over a long period of time, Southampton City Council could be liable for compensation to cover the debts incurred as they had not acted to resolve the problem. But at the end of last year, the ombudsman judged that the council was not liable. This seems like a ludicrous situation.

More detailed information is at the bottom of this email, but I hope this is of interest and that you can help to raise awareness of this issue so that other families don’t have to suffer the same fate. The latest research that I could find (o this website http://www.problemneighbours.co.uk/how-big-problem-are-problem-neighbours.html <http://www.problemneighbours.co.uk/how-big-problem-are-problem-neighbours.html> ) states that 360,000 households had to relocate because of problem neighbours in 2009.

Here is a summary of the situation, as provided by Sandra:

Number of calls and logged problems:-• Made 22 calls in 17 months to the council

 • 32 logged incidents on my log sheets
• 5 complaint calls made by other residents on the road on our behalf

Most of the problems were noise related at first, music, shouting, arguments, banging. Once the noise abaitment order was served the intimidation and vandalism directed at our family started. This is just a small selection of examples:-
• 10/09/10 - 11.55pm Porch window smashed with a stone and eggs thrown at front of house
• 06/01/11 - Eggs thrown at house and porch window broken (outer glass)
• 08/01/11 - Stone thrown at new (replaced) porch window
• 10/01/11 - 11.53pm Large rock thrown at porch window smashing it completely (which was caught on video)
• 18/01/11 - 1.30am Object thrown at bedroom window followed by consistent banging on bedroom wall.
• 23/01/11 - 10.30pm Object thrown against bedrom window

This was what my complaint to the council and ombudsman was based on:-
• We were not visited by anyone even though we were reporting problems for 17 months, this should have been done as part of there procedure.
• Asked me to fill in diary sheets but did nothing with them and have still not asked to see them
• I and other residents phoned the Out of Hours service on a number of occasions starting in June 2009. It took until August 2010 to get the problem witnessed
• The council accepted that our neighbours were causing problems but didn’t do anything to stop them
• The Council made no enquires about my problem in the 17 months that I was reporting problems to them
• Our case worker did not keep records of conversations i had with him, and then lied about the conversations
• No one has asked to see video evidence of our neighbours friend vandelising our property
• We were not advised that there were other departments in the council that could have helped (local housing and anti social behaviour team) at the time
• There were errors with record keeping
• Some evidence sent to the ombudsman was incorrect (in my view it was falsified)
• Despite the ombudsman saying the council made some mistakes she says it would not have made a difference so has decided not to investigate any further.

On New Years Eve at 2:30pm i had a knock at the door at home. The man told me that he was from the water board and that he needed to check the pipes coming in to my house. He seemed genuine so i let him in. Whilst he was looking at the pipes under the sink i went back upstairs to carry on with my ironing. When i came back down 10 minutes later i found that he was taking my belongings out of the house, including the television in my kitchen, a stereo and a dvd player. When i confronted him he told me that he was a bailiff collecting for a payday loan company that i owed money to. I immediately telephoned the police. When they arrived the bailiff told them that i had invited him in!!! This was a total lie. The police then asked if i wanted him to leave to which i said i did. i then asked if they could get my belongings back and they said that they could only do this if i could prove that i had not invited him in to my house. Can this be right????
