HSBC and RBS to refund forgotten ATM cash
30 December 2012
HSBC and RBS have now announced that they will repay those people that 'forgot' to take money that they withdrew from an ATM machine. Both banks have confirmed that they will go back to 2005 and analyse circumstances where customers withdrew money from ATM's but then forgot to actually take the money. In these circumstances the ATM swallows the money back after 30 seconds. The banks will also make a goodwill payment to cover the sum that customers would have lost in interest.
