Lies on your CV

Lies on your CV, is it FRAUD and therefore a criminal offence

With increasing competition for jobs, it is becoming more and more common for candidates to tell "white lies" on their CV.  Examples of this include saying that they have more qualifications than they really do, over-inflating their work experience etc.  If you lie on your CV it is technically FRAUD and therefore a criminal offence .

From your employer's perspective, if they employ you on the strength of your CV, and therefore in reliance upon what you have said, they will be perfectly entitled to dismiss you on the basis that you misrepresented yourself to them.

It is therefore not advisable to lie on your CV.
